Preservation is one of my passions and I’m deeply committed to keeping Bedford’s historic vista intact.  My role here allows me to share my love of all things old – objects, architecture, art, landscape – and to connect the history of those things with the living Village that Bedford is today. From the 1787 Court House to the 1906 Lounsbery Building, the charm and history of Bedford endures.
— Lynn Ryan, Executive Director

Our Board of Directors

The Bedford Historical Society is governed by a Board of Directors whose 21 members are elected by the general membership at its Annual Meeting in May.  Members of the Board serve terms of three years and officers are elected annually by the Board. The Board meets quarterly, usually on the second Monday of the month.  The bylaws of the organization are available on request.

    Our Staff

Evelyne (Lynn) Ryan, Executive Director - joined the Bedford Historical Society part-time in 1996 and became the first full-time Executive Director in 2001. When not running around the Village Green, camera in hand, she can be found hiking near and far, deep into a book, or casting a dry fly.

Sophia Bernier, Director - in witness protection and unable to divulge personal information. Future plans include quenching wanderlust.

Hannah Winiker, Collections Manager - Hannah received her MA from the joint Cooper Hewitt/Parsons School of Design, History of Design and Curatorial Studies program in New York City. There she specialized in nineteenth-century British decorative arts and material culture, with a minor study in twentieth-century popular culture (yup, that’s a thing!). When she’s not hunched in the BHS attic cataloging collections or researching new exhibits, she is hunting down vintage clothes and watching every new period film.

Richard Carpino, Properties Manager - the original fixer.
